The GEMS®: Brain Change Model

This classification model encourages us to get curious about the stages of brain change by focusing on abilities that are present versus what is lost. It provides us with the knowledge to dynamically assess where people are, what they need, and what is possible. The GEMS® advocate that everyone living with brain change when given the opportunity will shine.

Hand-under-Hand™ (HuH)

This allows care partners and people living with dementia the opportunity to build an authentic relationship through a non-threatening physical connection. HuH says, “I am here to support you – to do WITH you, not TO you.”

Positive Physical Approach™ (PPA)

This is the first step in creating compassionate relationships. It provides a way to connect with people, visually and verbally. PPA asks the question, “Can you except a connection from me right now?” and respectfully accepts the answer or offers an alternative.

Dynamic Bridge Therapy Program

New Dementians “Dynamic Bridge” TM program. A proprietary and patent pending program developed by Dawn Wiggins and her New Dementians team that sparks an amazing positive transformation in the lives of clients with dementia as well as their family members and caregivers. The program focuses on meaningful mental and physical stimulation. Each client is unique and every Dynamic Bridge program is as well.

Our Team Leaders will do a deep dive into the client’s past to learn about their greatest passions and most prized memories from the prime of their life. They look for specific events, activities, relationships and other important details to create their Time Capsule Anchor TM. By directly and carefully bridging this treasure trove of “anchors of past joy” to today’s world we create and activate specific triggers that result in something truly inspiring for all stakeholders. We have witnessed amazing transformation in almost every client ‘s circle of care with the implementation of this groundbreaking program. Are you ready for a better future?

Ageless Grace® is an exercise program for the body and brain that is done in a chair to fun, upbeat, lively music. The 21 tools or exercises activate all 5 areas of the brain and address all 21 factors that cause aging in the body.

What makes this program different from other fitness programs for seniors?

The Ageless Grace® program is based on 7 years of research in the cutting-edge science of neuroplasticity — the ability of the brain and the central nervous system to change it’s form and function across the course of a lifetime.

The Ashby Memory Method (AMM) program is a person centered program of thinking and activity focused exercises that helps those already experiencing memory loss and early to moderate Alzheimer’s disease manage their symptoms better for longer. AMM uses multiple types of interaction and stimulation to match each person’s interests and strengths while promoting personal connection and independence.

Medical Improv- changing culture in healthcare settings by improving soft skills.

“Nature heals the body, mind and soul”

People who work in organizations that involve human interactions need emotional intelligence and effective communication skills.  These ‘soft’ skills are essential for organizations to thrive and in healthcare, they are crucial for patient safety, patient experience, and workforce health. Even though we call them ‘soft’, they are very challenging to develop because they involve behavior change and emotional risk.  They also require other people to learn from and practice with.

Why experiential?

“Nature heals the body, mind and soul”

People need positive social experiences to develop important ‘soft’ skills.

  • Trust
  • Self-awareness
  • Awareness of others
  • Respect
  • Confidence
  • Empathy
  • Flexibility
  • Perspective-taking
  • Creativity

Medical improv activities, when facilitated properly, provide positive social experiences that are transformative.
